CFPA was created in order to give professionals of all levels,
expertise's, & experience a venue to grow, learn, & fellowship with
photographers sharing a common love of photographing children and
their families. This website was created to give you pro-active tools
to grow your business, aid in your workflow and nurture your
creativity. We are friends and colleagues here, not competition. Our
main membership requirement is a commitment to sharing and continuing
to grow. Attitudes are checked at the door.. come in and be among
friends...
The Children and Family Photographers of America was born from a group
of professionals that were members of Children Photographers of the
World (CPW), an association that was closed down several years ago. These members
felt so strongly about the importance of their group, and its forum,
that Kirk Kief created a new Forum where they could continue to meet.
Within months the group had grown and plans were made to have our
first mini-convention titled the "Get Together". The plan was to
have an informal meeting with good speakers and a few vendors to help
with expenses. The Get Together was so successful that it has
prospered the past 3 years. After the third Get Together Jennifer
Turner, in partnership with Kirk Kief and with the help of Marilyn Sholin, decided to form a formal association to continue on with the
sharing attitude that built the forum to over 350 members in 3 years.
To that end, CFPA was created.

Mission Statement:
To provide our members with the latest information, education
& theory's in the children & family photography industry.
Vision Statement:
CFPA was created to provide information to it's members via
our website and annual conference. This information will be
disseminated in a professional, caring & educational manner. CFPA is
dedicated to providing an atmosphere that is conducive to learning in
a non-threatening environment where our members will feel comfortable
asking any question they may have, without worry. Our vision is that
of a "community" working together to better our industry, persevere
for professional and technical excellence, and network and fellowship
with other members.
About Us...
cont.
The Association's main purpose is to have a clearinghouse of
information for professional photographers at all stages of their
business. Our plan is to have a "pro-active" site that will
continuously grow and evolve based on the needs of the members as well
as the evolution of our industry and its technology. This is a very
exciting time for CFPA as we are venturing into a new style of
professional organization, one that will have information available 24
hours a day, updating continuously, and keeping its members on top of
the industry while creating an environment that is as warm and
friendly as that first "Get Together".

Photographers need an edge…..Children
and Family Photographers of America (CFPA) began with the idea that
photographers needed a place where they were able to find the tools
necessary to help their businesses thrive, to encourage their
creativity, to inspire them to reach higher, and to surround them with
colleagues who care about them. We understand the nature of our
industry and the numerous groups, forums and associations you can
choose to join. We have done the research and realized that
photographers needed something specific to their needs, and CFPA is it.
Photographers need help all year long, not just at a conference
once a year. CFPA strives to accomplish this by creating an
interactive website that will be packed with useful and changing
tools, information and technologies to build your business. We have
contracted with top professionals from within and outside our industry
to provide articles, moderate forum rooms, host tips and techniques,
and train on Photoshop, Painter, and other software’s used by our
industry. Our website contains information such as a “Forms Warehouse” as well as marketing ideas in
our “Marketing Resource Room. We have multiple forum areas to allow
you to network with other members to share and inspire each other, and
when times are tough..to encourage each other. We will also provide an
amazing conference where the speakers are asked to share how they do
what they do, how do they market it, what they have done to become
successful, not just talk about how successful they are or push
products. All of our speakers have been asked to focus on useful,
hands on advice, not just “fluff” information. Not only did they
agree, they were excited!
CFPA was created BY photographers FOR photographers. We have
artists giving you ideas on how to niche your business, set you apart
from the crowd, and survive in this growing age of advanced-hobbyist
photographers entering our industry by the droves. You have to have
special tools to survive these days, we commit to providing them to
you. We need to educate the consumer as to the need and the difference
of professional photography. From the basics for beginners to advanced
techniques and topics…its all here. Join us, take the step in and be
welcomed by friends…..
Are we here to replace other
organizations and associations? Absolutely NOT! All of our Board
are members of most all of the major associations in the industry as
well as local and state associations. These groups are absolutely
important to give you the information you need for your region and
attack larger, national issues within the photographic industry as a
whole. They
give you local support, education & fellowship. We are not here to
compete, we are here to offer specific information & education to the
child & family photography industry. We're not here to re-do the work
that they have done, we're here to compliment that information with
industry specific tips, techniques & information to help us all grow.
